    Exposure Control and Source Management During Chemical Use

     

    The AUO Chemical Management List was developed in accordance with internationally recognized databases and control conventions to protect employee health in the workplace and the environment. Thorough health, safety and environmental assessments are conducted before a new chemical is introduced. Chemicals must also go through a registration and review process before they are introduced to reduce their environmental impact.

    Large amounts of copper liquid must be used due to the trend towards high-resolution panels. The reduction targets were achieved through the introduction of the 2nd gen copper liquid and adjustments to the new production process. The higher concentration of copper ions in the 2nd gen copper liquid extended its service life and reduced the amount needed. The chemical oxygen demand (COD) of the wastewater was also reduced.

    Development of water-soluble stripper

    Compared to conventional stripper liquids, the water-soluble stripper has a lower operating temperature so that machines use 15% less electricity. There is no reproductive toxicity and the wastewater recovered through distillation has lower COD, effectively reducing the amount of pollutants.
